Four Upcoming Enhancements Detailed Plus subscribers are in for a treat with upcoming features Nearly a year after its debut, ChatGPT has received its most substantial update to date.

OpenAI has unveiled a slew of new features, including a robust new AI model, the capability for users to craft bespoke AI assistants, and a pioneering marketplace that will serve as a hub for chatbot applications.

These announcements were made during OpenAI’s inaugural DevDay conference on November 6. While the event primarily catered to developers, the general tech enthusiast can also find excitement in such updates, as evidenced by similar events like Apple’s WWDC.

ChatGPT is vying for dominance in the AI field against competitors like Bing Chat, Google Bard, Claude, and others, making continuous innovation crucial. This year has already seen the introduction of the potent GPT-4 model, the integration of plug-ins for enhanced web service connectivity, and the incorporation of OpenAI’s Dall-E 3 image generator into ChatGPT.

Now, a host of new features are on the horizon for ChatGPT Plus subscribers. Here’s a brief overview of the most significant updates:

Personalize Your Own AI Chatbot

ChatGPT has traditionally been a universal AI companion, but that’s changing. ChatGPT Plus subscribers can now access a ‘Create a GPT’ feature, allowing them to tailor a ChatGPT variant to their specific needs.

This feature is expected to be a boon for businesses requiring specialized chatbots for their employees, but it also opens possibilities for regular users. For instance, parents could create a chatbot to assist their children with math homework.

The creation process involves several steps, guided by the GPT Builder, which will inquire about everything from the chatbot’s desired capabilities to its name and logo. Importantly, users can upload data to inform the chatbot’s responses and share their creation with others via a link.

Currently in beta for ChatGPT Plus subscribers, the GPT Builder will soon be complemented by the launch of the GPT Store later in the month.

The Introduction of a ‘GPT Store’ for AI Chatbots OpenAI is set to launch the GPT Store, likening the emergence of AI chatbots to the early days of iOS apps.

The GPT Store will feature a searchable collection of chatbots created with the GPT Builder and include a leaderboard. OpenAI plans to curate the store, showcasing verified builders’ creations in various categories and eventually allowing developers to monetize their chatbots.

‘Turbo’ Upgrade for ChatGPT Plus The GPT-4 model, which supports multi-modal inputs like speech and images, has been enhanced with a ‘Turbo’ version.

This upgrade includes training on more recent data, up to April 2023, improving the chatbot’s relevance.

Plus subscribers will benefit from an expanded ‘context window,’ meaning the AI can remember and utilize more information in conversations, now up to the equivalent of 300 pages of text.

Additionally, the user experience is streamlined, with no need to switch between models for different functions like using DALL-E or browsing.

‘Copyright Shield’ for Professional Users A significant addition for professional users is the ‘Copyright Shield,’ designed to protect enterprise and API clients from copyright infringement claims.

This feature doesn’t extend to free or Plus users, but it represents a notable step in legal protections for AI users, with OpenAI offering to cover legal costs in the event of copyright infringement lawsuits. The specifics of how this shield will operate are yet to be detailed.
