OpenAI Unveils GPTs: Easily Craft Your Custom ChatGPT and Monetize It Without Coding Skills Needed
OpenAI recently launched GPTs, tailor-made iterations of ChatGPT accessible for personalization without needing coding skills.
These user-friendly GPTs can be designed simply by engaging in a conversation with ChatGPT, suitable for personal use, corporate applications, or public distribution. Additionally, there’s potential for monetization through the official GPT store.
This may seem unbelievable, so let’s explore the details and capabilities of these GPTs more thoroughly.
GPTs merge the strengths of Custom Instructions and Plugins. The Custom Instructions feature in ChatGPT, launched in July, aimed to enhance response quality using user-specific data and preferred response modes.
While Custom Instructions gave a degree of control over ChatGPT’s responses, they were limited in creating a personalized ChatGPT and didn’t allow for saving multiple sets of instructions.
GPTs significantly expand upon these capabilities. They amalgamate tailored instructions, augmented knowledge, and various skills, including web browsing, DALL-E 3, and code interpretation. Here’s a visual representation of the process for creating a GPT.
In addition to the familiar instructions section, there’s a knowledge area where files can be uploaded to further customize your GPT. Additionally, a capabilities section enables features like web browsing, DALL-E 3, and code interpretation for your GPT.
After creating your GPT, you have the opportunity to share it globally via the upcoming GPT Store, set to launch in November. You can potentially earn based on the usage of your GPT, as suggested by OpenAI.
What kinds of GPTs can you create? It’s all about your imagination! If you have access to this new feature, you can start experimenting with various GPTs right away.
Let’s explore some of the GPTs developed by users for an insight into their creation process, which might inspire you to build your own.
GPT Example:
Converting DALL-E Images into GIFs Gif-PT, developed by Twitter user Nick Dobos, is a unique GPT that transforms DALL-E images into animated GIFs. How does it work? By utilizing DALL-E 3, it creates a sprite sheet. Then, leveraging the code interpreter feature, the GPT slices the sprite sheet and animates it into a GIF. This showcases the versatile capability of the code interpreter in image animation, as demonstrated here.
GPT Example:
Generating Spotify Playlists for Any Prompt Imagine wanting a Spotify playlist themed around a music festival.
Traditionally, this would involve searching for the festival and manually adding songs to Spotify. But with the GPT PlaylistAI: Spotify, you can generate such a playlist simply with a prompt. For instance, creating a playlist for the 2023 Coachella festival is just a prompt away. Here’s a demonstration of how it works.
GPT Example:
Optimizer for Twitter/X Rowan Cheung leveraged the GPT Builder’s early access to create an Optimizer GPT specifically for enhancing engagement on Twitter/X.
He achieved this by downloading his tweet activity metrics from Twitter/X and feeding this data into ChatGPT. This allowed the GPT to learn and provide tailored advice based on his metrics, making it a personalized tool for his use. However, there are other GPTs available for testing, as shown below.
As of writing this article, the new GPT feature is not yet available to all Plus users, meaning you might not be able to experiment with the GPTs mentioned here immediately. However, it’s expected that all Plus users will gain access to this feature within the week.
Currently, there’s no detailed information on how OpenAI intends to handle revenue sharing for GPTs published in the GPT Store, or how it plans to address potential issues like cloning of GPTs from the store. Nevertheless, this no-code approach to creating custom ChatGPTs is likely to inspire a surge of user-generated GPTs.
The GPT Store is poised to become the equivalent of the App Store in the world of artificial intelligence.
I’ve already got ideas for the type of GPT I’ll create once I gain access to the GPT Builder. How about you? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
